| My life was dramatically
changed in May, 1999, when I asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. I was going through a
very difficult time in my life and could not sleep one night. The Christian counselor, who
I was seeing, encouraged me to listen to the Christian radio station at night. I started
doing that, but kept it low so it would not disturb my sleep. Well, that night my life was
changed, the radio was keeping me awake. The announcer was talking about salvation and the
importance of inviting Jesus into your heart. The song, "I
Offer My Life," by Women of Faith began to
play, loud and clear. That song was so powerful for me that I started sobbing. I told the
Lord that I had made a mess of my life and didn't want to live that way anymore. I
confessed my sins and invited Him to be my Lord and Savior. I instantly felt a peace,
which was indescribable. It was like all the junk that I had been dealing with in my life
was suddenly washed away. |

Since the night I was saved, the Lord has
given me many blessings. The one I am most grateful for is a singing voice. I had been in
choir in elementary, high school, and college, but always struggled and did not enjoy
singing.
That has changed, and my range is tenor to first soprano. I mostly sing 2nd alto,
though. Because of this blessing, I use my voice to sing praises to God. I am in the choir
at my church, sing in community choirs, and also sing special music at my church. Last
year, I shared my testimony at church and sang the song that changed my life. Many people
came up to me afterwards with tears in their eyes and told me how they had been touched by
what I said and sang. I didn't know some of those people, but it was neat to see how God
used me to reach into the hearts of others by sharing what He has done in my life.
Another blessing is
intercessory prayer. God gave me this gift two years ago, and now I use it to pray for
family, friends, and people all over the world, many of whom I don't even know.
This year, the Lord
called me to fast. I did a one day fast, drinking water only, on behalf of a college
student who was badly burned in a car accident. God sustained her life for nearly eight
months. In May, I was called to a 10-day fast on behalf of a couple of Christian ladies I
have been corresponding with via e-mail. We "met" through some Christian
websites. One of those women is Lynda, who is on the liver transplant list. Recently, I
was called to fast once a week. Fasting allows me to draw nearer to God, and I see His
will in certain areas of my life more clearly.
In June, God set me
free from an addiction, which I had struggled with for nearly 18 years. It happened at a
church I was visiting, and we were having communion. The leader said that we needed to lay
down anything that was coming between us and God before we could partake of the Lord's
Supper. I prayed, and this addiction surfaced for me. I confessed it and heard and felt
the chains fall at my feet! Praise God! I spent that entire worship service crying because
I was so grateful that God had knocked down my prison walls.
In closing, I want to share my favorite
scripture verse: "The Lord is my Light and my
Salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the Stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be
afraid?" Psalm 27:1
Thanks for letting me share how the Lord changed my life!
Love in Christ,
