Breaking Down Walls
From: Belightful

Ephesians 4:29
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (NIV)

When I hear the phrase "Breaking Down Walls"   the first thing I think of is "building up and tearing down"...

We could either build up or tear down a person with our mouths. Being a mother has taught me that my responsibility to these children is to build them up. It's easy to tear them down -- that doesn't take much effort... I always think about the way I treat them is the way their future wives will treat them. If I am always criticizing them and tearing them down, they'll think it's normal to be criticized. If their wives are always criticizing them, their children won't respect them either. If their children can't respect their own father who is supposed to be the authoritive figure in their lives... how can they respect themselves or anyone else for that matter? The cycle keeps going on and on and on. I believe that being a builder starts with a choice... it's starts with what is in our hearts... it starts with Jesus.

The Bible says in Luke 6:45...
The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks. (NIV)

What comes out of the mouth is a reflection of the condition of the heart. That's why it's important to keep our hearts pure --- pure from the impurities of this world... the pollution that so wants to be part of us. If our hearts are polluted... the words we speak will be polluted and that's not a good thing.... When we are ready to get rid of all that junk all we have to do is surrender our hearts to God, and fill up on His precious Word. He will fill it in abundance with His goodness. God loves us so much and is always there for us, helping us each step of the way on this journey called life. With His help and guidance... we CAN build -- whether it's relationships, communities, or build up our precious children! Lets tear down those thick walls in our hearts that keep us separated from God. We must allow God to be in the center of our hearts cause He is the reason why our hearts beat...

Proverbs 15:14
The discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly. (NIV)

Proverbs 15:28
The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil. (NIV)

Proverbs 16:23
A wise man's heart guides his mouth, and his lips promote instruction. (NIV)
